What is Web 2.0?
A wiki is a website that is open to contributors that wish to update its content with relevant information. Perhaps the most famous wiki on the Internet is www.wikipedia.org, a massive online encyclopaedia that freely allows users to contribute to each article with relevant facts. There are both upsides and downsides to this; of course the opportunity for vast amounts of information from many different sources, but also the possibility for abuse of the system, with irrelevant and silly posts.
On the whole, wikis are informative and useful, providing plenty of opportunities for collaborative writing over the Internet. You could set up a wiki if you were planning on working on a group project, for example that required contributions from all members; a lot easier to manage than hundreds of group emails flicking backwards and forwards between members!
